Ever wanted to use a speech file from a generals mission on your zero hour maps? Well here's how:
1. Finding what speech file you want
Open Generals world builder then create a script with "[Multimedia] Play a speech file" look for the speech you want to use in your map using the "Preview Sound" button (assuming it works)
2. Finding the code for the speech
Let's say you would like to use MisUSA02Pilot101 speech, what you need to do now is extract INI.big with final big and look for the Speech.ini file, there search for MisUSA02Pilot101 (or whatever you would like), copy the entire code, for MisUSA02Pilot101 it is:
Code:DialogEvent MisUSA02Pilot101
Filename = mu2pi101.wav
End
2. Using a map.ini to "convert" Generals speech files to Zero Hour ones.
Now go to your mission map directory, create a map.ini file, and paste the code you have found in the map.ini, you can change the name of it to something you can remember later or you can leave it like that.
3. Scripting
Go to world builder load your map in, now open whatever script you want the speech file to play on, and type it manually, world builder will say that it doesn't exist just ignore because once you load the mission the game will load the map.ini where the speech name is written.
Should look something like this:
Code:*** IF ***
(Whatever)
*** THEN ***
[???]'MisUSA02Pilot101' plays, allowing overlap FALSE/TRUE
This might be obvious to some of you but holy crap for me??? I'm working on a mission atm I started it 1 year and a half ago, the mission heavily depends on speech and zero hour doesn't have that many and knowing today that I found this I am so happy I can finnaly use the thousands of speech files in Generals that are not available in zero hour unless you use this method.
Feel free to ask any questions
