I'm just now getting around to buying Red Alert 3 and I want to get the computer version so I can change stuff as I feel I need to after I beat the missions like I've done with Generals but I've also read reviews saying Sony put some kind spyware on it that gets installed when you install the game that you can't get rid of. You guys have more credibility than an average game buyer, is the spyware thing for real (witch if that's the case I'm just going to get the PS3 version) or is it something I can just ignore? |

It's not spyware, but it is DRM - called SecuROM. http://en.wikipedia.org/...uer:_Red_Alert_3#SecuROM may provide some details that will help you with your decision. |

thanks for the info. PS3 version it is! As often as I've gone through computer crashes with this Windows Vista program where I had to restore everything back to factory, SecuRom sounds like an unnecessary inconvenience. maybe next computer... |

SecuROM provides the ability to uninstall itself through a tool on their website. As far as I can tell, it works well! https://support.securom.com/removaltool.html |

Its not so much that SecuROM is being installed on my computer being an issue, i read about the part you mentioned, plus everything regaurdless of what is that was added to my hardrive gets deleted anyway when ever I have to do a factory restore. the issue is that, from what I understand with what MicScoTho showed me, I can only re-install the game up to 5 times before I have to start contacting people and I don't really want to have to do that. |
