So a friend of mine and I have been trying for years to get generals zero hour to work online, the game always mismatches after a few minutes. We have been super discouraged so i started researching online and found this forum.
Does gameranger solve the mismatch problem?
Thank you

mismatches happens only at a specific map or at any map? map .ini and modded games cause mismatch. also, on game data, you may find a file called "ini", if there's anything inside that, and yout friend don't, then it may be causing your mismatch (either if he have and you don't, it will mismatch). try playing in official maps, mismatch should not happen (if 1st option is the cause) or play with other players (if 2nd is the cause) --have you and your friend tried reinstalling the game? It will solve the problem if its cause is the 2nd option Edited by user Tuesday, January 24, 2012 1:52:55 PM(UTC)

We have tried reinstalling 100 times, with and without mods, tried opening up every port.. multiple routers and modems... etc etc.. From google searching it sounded like it was pretty common, was wondering if the gameranger fixes it.

I never had promblems with ZH online, the errors are caused, like alex said, by change in files on 1 of the sides. even no-cd exes and stuff can interfere. the game has a debugger @ launch (so does WB), and it checks many of the files, if something has been editted he might recognize you as a different version. did you try stuff like scanning for viruses n stuff? I had a nightmare with random malware recently..

Well we always do like 2 of us versus 6 hard computers, I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

Also, is gameranger a more stable way to play online?

-only specific maps mismatch? try fight a 1vs1 in an official map -all matchs mismatch? try fight with or against different players |

It's worth reiterating you should have a legit copy for online to work. |

I have two legit versions, 1 separate Generals copy, 1 separate Zero Hour copy and a box containing both. I've tried regular online and LAN through both Hamachi and Gameranger but I can only play regular Generals 1.8 without Zero Hour. As soon as I try to run Zero Hour it shows "The game has detected a mismatch which means the game has lost syncronisation data between all the players." or something like that... Anyways, if you'd like to play I'd suggest you stick with Generals 1.8. |
